Song information

"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is a song composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice for the film "The Lion King" released in 1994. It was a great hit in Britain, reaching 14th place on the UK Singles Chart, while in the USA the 4th place on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was performed originally by Elton John, for which he won an Oscar in 1994 and a Golden Globe for the best song. The producers initially assumed that the song will be performed only by Timon and Pumbaa duo. But John disagreed and pointed out that the song should uphold the "tradition of great Disney songs about love", and that it could "express lions’ feelings much better than a regular dialogue". It was impossible not to admit that he was right, so it was decided that "Can You Feel the Love" would be the main theme of one of the best animated films ever made.
