Song information

„La Cucaracha” (literally: a cockroach) is a Mexican folk song popularized during the Mexican Revolution. There exist innumerable versions of lyrics to this song, just as in the case of „Yankee Doodle”. Noteworthy, the song was an inspiration for Polish entomologist, Stanisław Błeszyński, to introduce a new spiecies „cucaracha” into the „La” genus of Lepidoptera. The nerdy pun gained its foothold, so now we know species of moths named „La cerveza” and „La paloma”.
