Song information

„Love Me Tender” is a song written in 1956 by Elvis Presley and Ken Darby. In the description of the song, instead of the Darby’s name, often appears the name of his wife, Vera Matson. At the time when the copyright was being determined, listing Darby as the second author turned out to be a problem. When Darby was asked, why he put his wife as the second author right next to Presley, he replied: "Because she didn’t write it either". The same year a movie of the same title as the song debuted on the big screen and as it is easy to deduce, the song was the main musical theme in that movie. The first time the song was sung by Elvis Presley was on September 9, 1956, during the recording of TV program "The Ed Sullivan Show".
